What does it mean to be self employed?

What does it mean to be self employed?

To be self employed means that you are not an employee of someone else's business or company. You are the boss. You run and / or own your own business. You set your own hours. You correctly follow the laws of your state, province or country in relation to having, owning, and / or running your own business etc...

There are several different business models that your self-employment can take. You can be the sole owner of a business, otherwise known as the "sole proprietor". You are self employed as the owner of that business, like a store, dealership, or other service oriented business.

You can also be part of a "partnership". Your responsibilities can very depending on the skills of you and your partner. Here, you are also self-employed, because you are still part owner of that business.

There are also other types of businesses that are corporations. If you are the owner, you are self-employed.

There are also many positions that are considered "self employed". If you have a skill and a title (electrician, plumber, etc...), you can be considered an "independent contractor" which is also self-employed and can be an occupation that is independent of any company or business, sometimes depending on how long and / or successful you have been in a particular occupation..

Technically, an independent contractor is or can be considered a self employed person, even though, an independent contractor can actually work for a company other than their own, legally, they are also considered "self employed".

not have an employer but still work

Self-employed generally means you own your own business and work for yourself. (Owning your own store, ect.)

you work for yourself you make your own hours and days you work and days off your the boss

You work for yourself.

that you are employes you have a job duh!!!!!!

Are you joking?

you have your own buissnes and work for yourself.

it means that you can make ur own hours and you work for urself

You work for yourself basically.

You own your own business! Make your own hours etc..

It means... You actually like your boss!!!

=)

to be busy only for yourself

you work for yourself, not for someone else.

Owning your own business and providing your own income with no backing by a corporate business or other 'overseeing' power. You are the boss/owner and make all decisions.

I'm almost positive it means that you do your own work; basically you emply yourself; you're your own boss. You don't work for a company, except your own, unless you don't have one.

working for yourself.

You own your own store I think. Or work @ home.
I THINK...
Not too sure!

To be working on your own, without being employed by someone else.

Usually this means having your own business.

It means you have your own business. legally, they have set up a business.

Although some people say they are "self employed" when they really dont do anything.

That you write your paycheck, if you are even getting one! No one else pays you.

you don't work for anyone. you work for yourself.

i means you work for yourself, you are your own boss, you have your own business and sign your own checks.

you work for yourself. I am self employed. I have my own business in my home. I am my own employee. I pay taxes and can purchase at wholesale with a resale certificate. It's hard work if you want to make money at it. Anyone can be self employed. You can do a service like mow lawns for people and you would be your own boss. Get your own clients and do your own work.

that you work for yourself, you are your own boss, you get contract jobs, you dont work for anybody.

it means that nw u can earn for urself ... in other words, self dependent

Two examples: a writer and a lawyer. They both do their thing and then they send out bills and they collect from other companies for the work that they do. They are not employees. They are independent contractors.

That typically means you do not work for another company, you work for yourself. (ie: independant plumber, electrician etc that doesn't work for a larger firm).
