Can a shop (in the UK) store my debit card details legally - including the security number? |
I don't believe a store has, I'm just curious. If anyone knows, can they please provide a reference to the source of the information? A security number is yours and yours alone,no one should have this number who is not connected to your bank,the other details others have about isn't worth a jot,as long as they haven't got the security number if by any chance you think they may have it ? then change it. Yes no i work in an office dealing with card payments i also worked for the fsa and no one is aloud to store card fetails appart from yourself although accound and sort code is alloud if you have a standing order or direct debit I doubt its legal..but I have worked in a shop, and physically it would be very easy to store and use someones numbers I think yes and no, they will if you have payment plan, but no they should not if you pay for goods in whole with one payment,sadly they do keep them it is ageist the law As far as I know it's stored in the card reader until it's wiped. |
