A ex employee has posted lies about my company on the internet and I want to know what can be done?

First, get your proof. Proof is not just what they are saying, but if they've raised anything serious, proof is what shows they're just lying. Then, warn the person to remove those things and quit doing it. Then, get a lawyer if they don't.

Look into filing a defamation/libel suit against him.

Print out the allegations and get the proof they are lies and file them together; then get your attorney on this and file a civil suit for defamation against this person.
