Property taxes reassessment?

With home prices plunging, we need to ask county to reassess our property. What is the procedure we need to follow? Can we do it ourselves? Thanks.

Here is the pdf file from Gregory Smith's office, our county assessor. It outlines the procedure and the application to begin the process. Good luck, I heard on the news that most people were not successful in their endeavours to have their property tax valuation decreased. I've only succeeded in paying more myself.

Yes, you can request a reassessment and the county will send out one of their appraisers. Hopefully you have made some serious improvements to your home and those improvements have brought your home up to date thus bringing up your value. or If you think your home is not worth the current value, they will go that route also.
