New York City Apartments Cost??

What is the average rent for a standard apartment in downtown NYC?

Current average prices for what's called "Downtown":
Studio: $2344
1 Bed: $2809
2 Bed: $3235
3 Bed: $4024

In Manhattan real estate, "Downtown" is considered the southern tip of Manhattan. There are lots of other neighborhoods you could generally call downtown, though. You can get the latest rental prices at flyrig.com. Go to their listings pages and click "Resources" -> "Market Reports" at the top.

AT LEAST a few thousand a month

That is a very big city to be making general statements like "standard apartment".

If you mean typical 2+2 that is 1200 square feet like a typical apartment nationwide.....the previous poster is right on.

Downtown...like midtown, I would guess 5k plus. - I'm sure when New Yorkers read my answer they will correct a bunch of things and tell me it's far more than that.
