Rental Scam??what shall i Do?

Ok i tried to find a place in Vancouver for summer, as i am not in vancouver, so i found him on craigslist and replied his rental ads.. I talked to the landlord on the phone and he seems ok. he is like 25 years old dude, and he said he wanted full month deposit, coz he it is his own place and furnitures r expensive. He took some pics of the place for me. He said he is going to on a trip and wont back early may, so i deposit 1500$ into his bank account ( the bank teller tells me he does live at the street he rents out , as she can access his infomation).i contact him to ask for a receipt, he said he is on business trip and has no access to his bank until he comes back on May 8th, and told me " i want this out of the way for my trip", it sounded like i annoy him. he doesnt even give me the exact address except crossing street. Is it a fraud or he is just an stressful landlord? I have copies of the cheque i deposited where i wrote " rental deposit" and record of our email.

Rental scam question. Look at it this way. Why in the world would you be able to keep in touch with this guy if it was a scam. If indeed it was a scam he would not have that number any longer. And the bank would not confirm this guy lives at that address. Or they could be sued by there customer for giving you his information out. So i`m sure you did not get this information about where he lives.
Your questions look a bit scandalis myself.

Good lord... We're not back to this again are we??? Isn't this number 8 for this question being posted?

Have a friend contact this guy online and ask to rent the place for the exact time you wanted it. If he says it's available and your friend will have to send a deposit, you will have your definitive answer once and for all & we won't have to see this posted a bajillion more times while we all wait for May 8th to roll around.

I'm even willing to put forth some research on my part to see this resolved. What were some key words in the Craigslist ad & I will try & inquire on the same dates. Vacation Rentals in Vancouver BC is too broad.

Dude, for the sixth time - chill out. The guy is on VACATION. If you are as annoying on the phone as your are posting this stupid question over an over, I can understand why he was curt with you. Wait till he is off vacation, and then work out the details.

Your check when cleared is your receipt. You did, please tell me you did put the name of the street, address on check....correct.

If he takes the money and runs it is a criminal act and ....give it a few days. It may be the business trip of a lifetime and he's preoccupied - your fine!

what's the ad number if you don't have a friend to do it
i will phone him??
www.canada411.com
he should be listed
names
addresses
phone numbers
does reversals as well.

having paid in full i would also be wanting a "receipt" and it is so easy to write one via email.
iam only "skeptical " because i had 4 fake checks given to me from people on "craigs list" on my car i did just sell...

$1500 is a lot of money assuming that is your first month rent and the "deposit"...... and you are not getting any information but a phone number which could be a cell phone..

you could phone the local police as well. (vancouver does have it's own police department) and ask them if it is legitimate... you could also find the police department phone number in www.canada411.com
