Is this rental scam??what shall i do ?

Ok i tried to find a place in Vancouver for summer, as i am not in vancouver, so i found a place online. I talked to the landlord on the phone and he seems ok. he is like 25 years old dude, and he said he wanted full month deposit, coz he it is his own place and furnitures r expensive. He took some pics of the place for me. He said he is going to on a trip and wont back early may, so i deposit 1500$ into his bank account ( the bank teller tells me he does live at the street he rents out , as she can access his infomation). I contact him to ask for a receipt, he said he is on business trip and has no access to his bank until he comes back on May 8th. and I said " stay in touch", and he said " i want this out of the way for my trip", it sounded like i annoy him. Is it a fraud or he is just an stressful landlord? I have copies of the cheque i deposited where i wrote " rental deposit" and record of our email. So if it is a fraud , or just weird landlord? at least i dont like his attitude

Do you a signed rental agreement? Im guessing probably not..I would have gotten that before you gave the guy any money...

Because you have his name, address and bank info, if its a scam, you will be able to prosecute him. Private landlords dont always do things by the books...but you will probably be okay. Just keep records of all transactions and emails to be safe.

you have the copy so you have valid proof of payment and what it was for - relax - he's probably just busy or you caught him at a bad time

Brother, chill out already. If you were so nervous about the $1500, then maybe you should be looking to rent somewhere less expensive. Wait till he gets off vacation, then work with him. I would be pissed at you too if you were bringing all this negative vibes on my time away.

It sounds like you two are starting out on the wrong foot already. Lots of people doesn't like to be bothered while on vacation. It is a wise thing, keeping up with email conversations & bank transactions, keep it up, you can use it
in court. Beings you already sent money, you may have to take him to court if you want it back.

Your description does not appear to establish any pattern or plan to defraud you.
You have a valid name, bank account and property address.
I am not certain where you live, but I would venture a guess that you are, like myself, a U.S. citizen.
For reasons, I do not fully comprehend, there appears to be less, much less, fraud perpetrated in Canada. It may be that the law enforcement officials are more efficient or the legal process more intimidating or the society less tolerant of the behavior you fear...
Relax and accept the landlord on his word, for now. Your concerns are a reflection on your own experiences and not his. Your observation of his "attitude" is simply the conflict of cultural difference.
By the way.... You will love the area. Good Luck.
