If I'm living someone but not on the lease, can the apartments raise the rent? If you moved in with someone and you are not on the lease the landlord has every right to raise the rent. They do that because of the extra wear and tear and extra on utilities that they pay. The lease usually has a provision for fees to be assessed if someone is occupying the apartment but not on the lease. I've seen them around $25/day. it is a clause in the lease. yes ,of cause they can Yes. Why? Because the person on the lease is breaking the lease by letting you live there, making the lease null and void. You both could be evicted by the landlord. |
