Can you tell me why a landlord would refuse to disclose the acc't and bank name where my security dep. was? Because they probably aren't maintaining that account like they are required to by law. I would try to find out if, in your state, they are required to disclose that. Contact Fair Housing. i think they are required to tell you if you ask. Because his/her bank account info is not your business. I'm a property manager, and the name of the bank where we deposit our tenants' security deposit, along with address, is on their lease. They should at least give you the name of the bank. Sounds fishy. their bank account info isnt your business. maybe they didnt keep it in a bank account. Quite frankly its none of your business. He has control of the money as well as use of it based on the terms and conditions of your rental agreement. Read your rental agreement closely, it may require him to advise you of were he keeps the funds, probably not but give it a try anyway. Because if you had that information, you could remove funds from the account. |
