If I get a cat now and pay the pet fee, will I be charged another pet fee when I renew the lease in 3 months?

I am alright with paying a pet fee up front now, but NOT if I will have to pay it again when I renew the lease. Any ideas?

Pet fee deposit is the same as your person deposit. One time fee. Most of the time non refundable.

Probably not. A pet fee is usually like a damage deposit to clean up stinking pet mess after you move out. You don't have to pay an additional damage deposit when you renew a lease, do you?

no the pet fee is for the duration of your stay including the renewal

I charge my tenants a one-time pet fee. The tenant does not pay the fee again if they renew the lease. The fee, however, is non-refundable. It covers deodorizing and any repairs resulting from the animal.

If you have any doubts, you should ask your landlord.

There's a difference (in my apartment complex anyway) between a pet FEE and a pet DEPOSIT. A FEE is something that is added to each month's rent. A DEPOSIT is a one-time charge when you first moved in. My particular apartment complex has BOTH -- if you have a dog or a cat, you pay a PREMIUM every single month for that privilege. I have birds and didn't have to pay either one.

you should ask your landlord. the people in yahoo answers do not make the rules for having pets in your apartment.
