Why are there so many registered sex offenders living in Colerain, NC?

the town only has a population of about 221 people, and it looks like a little rural small town and most of the houses listed on realtor.com are relatively inexpensive (even though it is near a coast???:-O What a great potential investment!!!) but anyway, there are 8 registered sex offenders in the town even though it only has like 221 people and is in what seems to be a rural coastal area. I was even thinking about maybe moving there one day if I get married, since it is right on a coastal river, which may mean easy access to the ocean and relatively cheap housing. But I don't want to have kids in a small town with 8 sex offenders. So why would there be that many sex offenders in a town like that?

Must be in the drinking water or a large family in the area.

Hun it is everywhere . The world is just sick today and no one has respect for each other especially men now days due to society and how they are raised .

Unfortunately, sex offenders are everywhere now. The one thing about that is that sometimes a registered sexual offender may have done something as small as mooned someone and received offender status.

Now I'm not excusing any sort of this behavior, but not all may be as it seems.

Well, I don't live in that town but I do live in NC and I have a theory about this. I recently talked to my bf (a NC native) about this and asked why so many serial killers/weird murders to happen in NC. NC overall has many many isolated rural spots, where someone can live their life and not see people unless they choose to. For someone who is deviant in some way, its a great place to be. You can go about your business of fornicating with women's shoes while dressed as Captain Hook in your front yard, for example, and not have to worry that someone will pass by. Conversely, the closer you get to civilization the more nosy busybody NC housewives are going to be in your business.

As far as the molester thing, keep in mind that they may not all be disgusting child molesters. People routinely get married at age 17 down here. It may just be that these people had sex with a 15 yr old when they were 17, and they got in trouble for statutory rape. Those two people may have later been married. You never know.

Just use common parental sense and keep your eyes open and be aware of where your kids are at all times. Sex offenders live everywhere. Some have not been caught yet, and may live next door to you (those are the ones I'd be more afraid of). Good luck with whatever you do.

That percentage is probably low to tell the truth.

Keep in mind that some registered sex offenders are comparatively harmless, being forced on the list for pandering or prostitution, not rape or other violent sex crimes or crimes against children.
