How long does my apartment have to charge me?

I recently moved out of an apt I was renting. I didn't leave the place trashed, but I think I will be charged for incidental cleaning as I didn't have a security deposit. How long do they have to charge me? I don't want to wait 6 months to see a bill in the mail. Is there a time limit?

If the apartment had no damages when you left then you should not be charged for any cleaning that might be done. They apartments are required to clean them themselves before any new tennants can move in. There for the cost of having someone come in and lets say clean the carpets would be their bill not yours.

You should have had a move-out walk-through inspection with the management. You should have also taken pictures of all the rooms as you left them.

I'm moving in March and I intend to do all this because when I originally moved into that apartment 9 years ago, I paid a discounted security deposit as a move-in special, and I do not want to be charged after the fact for normal wear and tear.

There is really no telling how long it'll be or even IF you'll hear anything further, unless you call and ask.

Try this question again with where you live.
Laws are different from locality to locality.
I doubt they will wait 6 months. I have never seen it.
May well take at least 30 days. They can charge you
legally if they can find you or not. If you did not clean it
they will have to hire someone so you probably will be charged.

I doubt you'll have to wait six months, but they have up to a year.
