Is it a good time to buy a house in the North Dallas, TX area? |
I'm hearing lots about home prices dropping around the country and home sales in a slump. I'm just about to close on a house in McKinney, TX (North Dallas area) and am wondering if I'm at risk of having my house depreciate in the next several years. Perhaps I can walk in and change my offer to the builder? Actually, the report I just saw on the TV yesterday showed that the TX market in general hasn't really depreciated, though the growth has slowed considerably. It has hit the west coast (CA and NV) most significantly. just be careful - prices continue to drop almost every month - there's no good outlook until 2009 but if there's a good price on it buy if because you could gain some equity on it if you buy at a low price when the home could be qworth more. My husband and I are about to close on a home in DFW and the price to build is $186,000 and we are buying for $152,900! You may not be able to change your offer if both parties have already signed the contract, but it's definately worth a try. Maybe you could have have them throw in some upgrades or a fridge, washer/dryer? REALTOR here: We have been told at the associations and by the analysts that we listen to that the market has held strong here and we havn't experienced any bubble issues. While we do have foreclosures they are the normal variety. |
