Has anyone ever had section 8 housing? Is it worth applying for, how long of a waiting list? |
Has anyone ever had section 8 housing? Is it worth applying for, how long of a waiting list? Contact your local Welfare or Housing Department. That's where you will fill out the paperwork and get determined. The length of the waiting list depends on your township, and the government determines your priority. Some wait a few weeks, some wait years, it depends. There is never a concrete answer until your landlord and yourself have filled out the paperwork and a check is promised-when it's your turn. go to your local housing authority to sign up... you have to be on a waiting list .. When accepted you have to have certain documents when you do your in office interview. U have to have all utilities in your name and have income for the house hold. All members of the household have to be on the lease, if any household members are over 18 they have to sign papers at the section 8 office. After you are approved for housing voucher.. you have to find a house that the landlord will accept section 8 vouchers. NOT everyone does.. they dont pay all the rent.. HUD only pays certain amounts for certain bedrooms.. I know for a 3 bedroom in ohio... they will only pay 369.00 a month.. maximum rent.. U still have to pay part of that rent.. U do have to pay some rent to the landlord.. I hope this helps you.. |
