Can my apt charge additonal charges after signing the lease? |
they told me all i had to do was pay for lights so i put them in my name and a trash fee 3.00 utility fee 6.00 now i'm getting a fee for gas that varies from mo. to mo. can they do that so now my rent is now about 25 dollars more than what the lease says walk around your building....how many gas meters are there? if only one, and theres more than just you as a tenant, then it seems gas would have to be included in the rent, and therefore whats on the lease, would have to stand.............this seems most likely, because you didnt have to put the gas in your name also........ Your rent only covers the apartment unit. You have to pay your electric bill, gas and all other utilities. That lease was your contract with the landlord. You both agreed to it and signed it. I can say you "should have" but, you still can, unless you resign or signed another agreement. Tell them "no" and , or, why. If you have it in your written lease that the landlord will provide gas, he can not ask you to pay until your lease is up and it's time to sign another one. At that time he can make any changes he wants to and it's up to you if you sign again or not. |
