I had to break my lease with my Landlord. Can this come back to haunt me?

I had to move out of town so I broke my lease. I worked out a deal with my landlord that she got my security deposit and an extra months rent. I paid this. Can this keep me from getting an apartment in the future?

Well........hopefully you got this whole transaction on paper......thats the only way to guarantee it wont.........

Usually if you worked it out with your landlord, you have nothing to fear. Still, I wouldn't be quick to use that landlord as a reference in the future.

Most leases have a clause that allows you to break your lease if you are moving for work purposes over a certain distance. If you are in that type of work, be sure your next lease has that in it. If your landlord agreed to your moving and was satisfied with what your worked out, there should be nothing on your record. Your landlord had your security deposit and a month to rerent your apartment. She should have been pleased.

If she agreed and you signed a clause. If not and, she wants to be a b.....she can really screw up your credit.
