Any affordable gyms in Philadelphia?

Some make you pay like two years in advance. major discouragement. eh....

You don't say where in Philadelphia you are and it's a big city. Sweat is a fantastic club and quite reasonable. They have 4 locations in Center City (with two more opening soon I believe).

In the suburbs - Aquatic & Fitness is really nice. They have one on the main line, one in Jenkintown, one in Cherry Hill and one in NE. On the pricier side but sooo worth it.

There are Bally's & LA Fitness for the chain clubs - just don't get sucked into their contracts for too long.

Also, there is Planet Fitness which is $10 a month or Retro Fitness (where my husband belongs) which is only $19 a month.

Unfortunately, I don't know how much they are but try Curves.

I like Aquatic Fitness Center...There's not many of them though...i like their trainers the best and it's super clean

I LOVE sweat. I think the startup fee is around $100 and then it is about $55-$60 per month. If your insurance has global fit or other people where you work go there it may be less. I get a corporate rate and pay like $45 per month. I am told the Bally's in Center City is horrible. Philadelphia Sports Club is okay, but I think more expensive, I personally hate LA Fitness because I had trouble with them in the past where they kept charging me for months after I cancelled my membership no matter how many times I called and verified it was cancelled and that I should not be getting charged any longer, The Iron Works in Olde City is okay, but since there are only 2 locations (Old City and Northern Liberties) it may be less accessible. I am told City Fitness is alright, but they only have 1 location, charge as much as Sweat and don't have a pool (Sweat has one at the 15th and Arch location.)
