Any Suggestions On Promoting A Fundraiser?

I am sponsoring a fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP).

I'm really not sure how or where to present it for promotion. I've researched how to write a press release and have posted it to my blog www.candleretirementplan.com. I'm afraid this won't catch local supporters though.

But I would really like to promote locally where there is a lot of traffic.. customers.

Thanks

Great ideas, Amy! Thanks.

Never thought of the banks.

Get a local business--or even better, a radio station--to sign on as a sponsor. They get good public relations out of it, and they have access to advertising contacts that you obviously do not. That's why a radio station is especially great as a partner, but even other businesses have connections that will help you do the promotion.

Just make sure you talk to the right person. At a radio station, you want to talk to the director of advertising or to the station manager. Make an appointment to meet with them and be prepared to explain everything about your fundraiser: who you are, who else is associated, what you expect your expenses to be, how much you are hoping to raise, etc., etc. The more you look like you are serious and have things planned out, the more likely you are to get help.

Good luck!!

Also check out rates for Philadelphia Weekly & City Paper. A paid ad could bring in double in donations. I don't know their rates though.

Flyers are always good. Put them in the local stores. Banks are another great place to place them. Everyone goes to the bank.Well, maybe not everyone but you get the drift. Put them in high traffic locations. See if you can get it announced in some churches.
