What have you done to compenstate for the high price of fuel?

Everyone is feeling the squeeze & we have restricted our trips to the store, dont go out to eat,not going on vacation(we've had 2 in 39 yrs),as always take my lunch to work, always stock up on necessities while at the store--such as toilet paper, ketchup, peanut butter, washing detergent, bath soap, toothpaste,we have always done all this mostly. Can you think of any cost saving ideals you might add.Oh yes & i make my own beer,& i only drink abt 3 a day.I may stop wearing underwear would that be a good ideal?Stop using deordorant, bathe once a week(saturday nite)? We haven't been to a movie theater in over 25 years. So if you can help me come up with any more ideals let me know. Thanks P S have to keep my internet, but plan to get rid of cable t v.May buy some chickens for eggs & eat them after they get too old to lay eggs.I did have 2 pigs in the yard but the neighbors started raising heck after the pigs too big to hide under the house.Anyway let me know ur ideals.

think back when we were in WW ll
we bathed once a week and washed hair on sat but did take a zitz bath everyday.
recycled everything.
now we use thrift stores for clothes, I get great jeans for $3 a pair and Wed is senior day and half off that.
I use garage sales and thrift stores. buy clothes at Koals on sales and get polo shirts for $2.50. use public transportation when i can, eat at home take lunch, go camping at local
places but that is expensive nowdays. seniors have meals on wheels at senior center and lunch is $2, get free stuff at hasmatt recycle center for flowers, car, paint, go to swap meet on Sat and Sunday if I need tools
we had chickens and rabbits but the cost of feeding them is more than the cost of buying eggs. we ate the rabbits and sold the pelts for .25 on stretchers. mom had to stop making our own bread because the flour was too expensive and bread was only .18 a loaf. we buy bread at the thrift bakery or day old bakery. we used to get a chicken sack which was bread and dough nuts and everything dumped off the shelf into a 30lb sugar sack for .25 then we would steam the rolls and sweets to eat. yum

I quit driving unless I really need to.

I've actually backed off the throttle a little, and eased off on the acceleration.
Other things you can do are adjust the thermostat a little, watch more closely the items you are buying in the grocery store, and fix things yourself instead of tossing and buying new. You also might want to shop around your insurance. I'm planning on doing this shortly. Most importantly, if you have credit card debt pay it off as soon as possible.

We have no choice we must buy gas to get to Savannah to go to work but once I am there I can walk to work unless the weather is nasty!

Sounds like you've done almost everything possible on the expense side and then some. You may need to work more on the income side. A better job, more hours in your current job, a second job?
