I want it all, and I want it now!!!?

Who else here is disturbed with the "I need money now and fast" posts that continue to show up here on a cnstant basis or people with several payday and unsecured loans, behind on rent/house payments about to get thrown out on their butt.

Our nation is in the shape it's in, not mainly because of our govt', but because people have to have things NOW and will go to any means to have it now and willing to sink into debt for crap that depreciates in value yet they're to blind to see that their own behavior that's ruining them and also banks and financial institutions that give out hairball termed loans that the bank knows damn well the borrower won't make good on and they know they'll end up with the item.

Yeah, there's the occasional story of misfortune, but most people here have created their own mess. For goodness sake folks, YOU DON'T NEED STUFF!!! Learn how to live within your means and SAVE for things you want!!!

GRRRRRR!!!!! Sorry for the rant. Thanks for letting me vent

Good answers by the others above me. I will confess. I've been there. Bailed myself out and never want to go back. I'm glad I've developed the mentality that a car is nothing more than a means of transportation. I have friends that dropped $40-50k on a car that, now 4-5 years later, they still owe $15-17 on it and it's not even worth $10K.

Now I'm a saver. Status symbols are just that. Just symbols, but in no way reflects anyone's finacial sucess. Just a symbol that they're in debt up to their eyeballs and made a committment to make payments on a car until the day it dies.

learn the difference between want and need , I agree

I totally agree. I really don't understand the greed and impatience.
13 year olds asking "how can I make 2 grand for sping break"
or adults saying "I have bad credit, where can I get an unsecured loan"

The reason these people are in these fixes is in the 90s everyone suddenly became a victim. "it's not my fault, the credit card companys took advantage of me" "my bank gave me overdraft charges and that caused another check to bounce."

Take responsibility for your actions, learn good spending and savings habits and you will always be OK.

Good question....

I agree.

You deserve 100 points for this posting... AMEN!!! I call these people DUMB-A$$3$. They will never learn until they are thrown on their street without a penny to their name.

People who by based on monthly payment are stupid. People who use credit cards knowing that they will only make the minimum payments are retarded. People who spend more than they earn are incredibly incompetent.

But there is hope. The only fair part of life is that is the direct result of our decisions, actions, and moves. Stupid or not, it is the natural correction to rid of those imbeciles who know not their own limits.

I totally agree. I don't answer the "How do I make lots of money fast???!!!!" questions any more. If people want answers, they can just check the millions of other questions where people have asked exactly the same thing.

I think people are too comfortable to dish out blame on the banks and lending institutions. Sure, there are some lenders who adopt predatory practices and should receive blame for what they do, but there are plenty of people out there with NO self discipline who are unwilling to manage their money and not go into debt for things that are not assets. Many people create their own mess. They get warning signs, like higher payments, or late notices, and they don't make the connection that those things are indicators that they are living beyond their means.

I think too many people resort to bankruptcy, meaning that their creditors get shafted out of money they lent with the expectation they would get it back. Bankruptcy doesn't have the stigma it once had, but if you left money on term deposit at the bank, and then the bank said "oh, sorry, we're bankrupt now. We can't give you back your money" most people would be pretty peeved.

I don't think the problem is that people don't learn good financial behaviours. I think they get plenty of opportunity to learn how to manage their money and not overspend. It's just that they choose to ignore what they're told because they 'want' stuff, and society, on the most part, doesn't provide any external sanctions for this behaviour. They borrow money from big companies, not individual people, so they never actually see how their actions impact others, and they never think that by blowing off their responsibilities, they're putting other people's jobs and investments at risk. That's not cool

Best wishes
