How come people are so judgemental towards people that have credit card debt that they can't afford to pay?

I agree you should pay your debts but sometimes bad things happen to people like the mortgage crisis, health problems or job loss.

I think the problem arises from the heavy misuse of credit cards. Therefore, when people get into trouble because of genuine, legitimate emergencies, they get tarred with the same brush.

I have a friend who's now ex boyfriend stole her credit card, went on drug binges, spent up wildly at her expense, and then she finally got out of there and left him. Her credit was RUINED by someone else, but because it was all in her name, there's nothing she can do about it. She's paying off the debt and cancelling the cards.

I have an acquaintance at work who spent up big on the pokies. She wastes money on eating out, playing the pokies, cigarettes, and crap she doesn't need. She car pools with me and hasn't paid anything towards petrol for 2 months, and she's on casual pay rate, so she gets paid about 20% more than I do. She's an ex bankrupt and now she's just doing exactly the same things that got her into the mess. Its those people who give all credit card debt holders a bad name.

Not all people with credit card debt are hopeless losers. There are a substantial number who have gone through legitimate hardship and deserve some respect.

I try to take people's finances on a case by case basis. I have friends who have big debts for good reasons, and friends who have big debts for stupid reasons. At least I don't tar everyone with the same brush.

Best wishes

That is why the government and state agencies have been created to protect us, but when it is just some jackoff who doesnt understand how debt and credit work, then end up declaring bankruptcy that makes us all suffer. I loathe those people, they may not be stupid or dumb but they are irresponsible and should not have been granted the credit card in the first place. That raises another issue, credit cards are very easy to get and you do have to understand finance a little bit b4 you get screwed up with one of those plastic cards.

they just want to psyche you if you really are capable of paying it, if you have the resources, i mean
