Do you think I should quit my job to finish school?

I am a 28 year old male. I have been working full time for a nonprofit making $33k a year. I am also half way to getting my bachelors. During the past couple of years I have been going part time to school which has worked out ok. I am getting to the point now where it is becoming more and more difficult to get classes that work with my schedule. So I am considering quitting my job at the end of this year so I can give my all to finishing school. Financially, I have $30k in savings, my billls are very low. . I also make a few hundred bucks a month selling on ebay on the side which pays my bills and allows me to not use any of my savings, I don't pay rent cause I do snow removal and grass cutting for my building. My job would not allow me to go to part time. I am a very smart person but in the past have made some bad choices when it comes to school work etc. I am going for something different than what I am working in (degree in finance & accounting.) What should I do?

I was 36 when i quit my job making $37k per year. The reason i did it was because i had hit a financial glass ceiling and found it difficult to get higher than that and my options were limited. I'm done now and it was hard to go down to a highschool income but it was worth it. I am a veteran so the benfits i had helped me out. Assess your assets and liabilities think about it and then....jump in head first. As a friend of mine said, "the sooner you start, the sooner you finish". If you are already half way though then its better to go full-time and get it overwith. the less time the better. You can never get time back, so dont waste it. Do it, jump in! If you can work part-time great if you can't then quit. Also keep in mind that keeping your old jub may serve as a crutch because its comfortable and as soon as things get hard you might quit school and go back to work full-time and delay school again. Good Luck hope it goes well.

There's never any money in nonprofits. You should consider the fact, though, that may you may be able to move up in your company if you quit school. Of course, you're studying for another field.
It sounds like you'll be able to pay for school now, which is a good position to be in. I would say keep your job, but look around for something better, maybe more pay and more freedom. There will always be more time for school, but remember, you'll have to pay for it.

don't quit school. with a degree in finance and accounting you can get up to how much your making now after you finish school.

can you take a leave of absence from your job or possibly go to school part time & online to save you time. there are lots of options so you don't have to leave work. trust me ya don't want to be without health insurance it will suck your $$ dry in no time if something happens. lots of colleges and good ones offer classes online at your convenience. think about it. :)

Wow, this sounds familiar. I was in the same boat about 1 year ago. I still work for my non-profit and quit "traditional school". The job I have is pretty flexible so I decided to pursue my degree online. I researched the schools and found one that fit my needs/classes/degree choice. It's a little more spendy, but it's worth it for the flexibility it offers. All my previous college credits transferred right over, leaving me to finish about 80 credits. That meant I would get my undergrad done in 1/2 the time! I don't know if you have your heart set on the school you are attending, but I would suggest doing some research. Maybe your current school offers online school as well or you can go part time. But this will take longer.

Good luck!!

One allowance on a W-4 is roughly equal to $3000 in income. So if you put $3000 in an IRA and can take the deduction, the extra allowance is about right.
