Dept collectors question?

I am having to pay an unpaid ebay fee to dept collectors, but i really dont trust the way they get my card details. one way is put your card details on paper though the post... (which could go missing and people could get my infomation)

and the other way is tell them over the phone. the calls get recorded and so will my card details, and the operator could steal my details aswell.

I think i have the right not to pay if i dont trust the people i am paying. am in the wrong here? i would pay if they accepted paypal.

It's surprising to me that you can't pay you ebay fees with your paypal account as ebay owns paypal. Perhaps your bill went to a third party for collection and they will keep a portion for collecting this late pay? I would make absolutely sure that it is ebay you are dealing with and not some phishing for your info. But not trusting the operator who works for the debt collection company is just costing you the one thing you are worried about- your good credit. If you insist on being paranoid about giving your info to strangers, then send them a money order. But pay the bill- sooner the better. Good luck!!

By that logic, no one would have to pay any of their bills by simply stating they didn't trust the company.

As far as Ebay, you can pay unpaid fees with a money order/cashier's check, you just have to contact customer service for the address. Make sure to print out a copy of your account and notate your account information on your money order/cashier's check.

Also, you can use a PayPal virtual debit card to pay. The virtual debit card number is randomly generated each time you use it and will deduct from your PayPal account.

call a live person from ebay and ask them who this company is.
get the phone # and call better business bureau or what ever your areas equivalent.
check them out.
tell them that you are unsure about giving out info to third party collection.
