Thankfully I'm not (for the moment, anyway) in that position... but I've been there lots of times before and probably will be again.

I love the ideas here - I would have never thought about writing it all down to keep track, and have always been either too lazy or embarrassed to call the people I owed - but the guy who wrote that has a very valid point on that.

I'm surprised at the lack of answers on this one, because I know how many people don't think of these things. Maybe if you asked something like, "Can't pay my bills?" with the details saying something about "Have you guys ever tried this stuff? I'm especially interested in knowing how the creditors treated you if you told them that..." you might get a lot of responses from people more qualified than I.
