Question about debit cards?

Hi, I don't have a bank account but my paycheck goes directly to the debit card I have. I was wondering if I cancel (suspend) the debit card, what happens to my money? Should I make my balance 0 then cancel it?

My boss gave me the card. He loads my funds in the debit card and I get a pay stub and a monthly statement. I don't want the hassle of debit cards because I am afraid of all the fraud going on.

look on the back of the card there should be a phone number there that you can use to contact that company responsible for the maintains of that card and your account. I know because my son had one when he worked for MC Donald's. And they will give you the information you need. also ask for a paper statement it will be on that also. And if you want to cancel you must tell that company of the card and your boss.

Hmmm.... That seems odd. So your debit card is like a prepaid credit card? Usually a debit card is tied to a checking account. Are you sure that isn't the case? Can you open a checking account? Most likely, if you cancel then the money would get sent to you but it might take some time for that to happen. You should call the company and find out more information. You should contact your place of work to find out what to do to change where your money goes. The sensible choice would be to let your work know asap so they can start giving you checks?

Ask your boss if you can get a regular paycheck instead of the debit card. Or open up a bank account and set up direct deposit to the bank account.

Don't cancel the debit card till there's other arrangements for your paycheck.
