Average cost of bills?

What is the average cost of living on your own and single, in a large city?

Find an apt or house on line, like on craigslist. Call the utility company with address and the will tell you the average bill for that address. Get other info like food costs, etc from Internet resources and add it up.

About 2K per month. That is what the lowest paid people I know are paid but they either own a home from years ago or live with someone else for cheap or free rent.
If you don't keep a car and can walk to work and shopping you may live on less. If you don't have life insurance or other fixed cost and are willing to in cheap food have several roommates and no expensive hobbies you might live on much less.
Rent a room in someone's home on Craig's list, pay no utilities, take a bus to work and shopping and don't save for a house down payment, retirement or college and you can get by on less. But that only last until you want to own a home, marry, have children or plan to ever retire.

it would vary greatly by city..let's take phoenix or Albuquerque where it is a little cheaper to live it would be 900-1500 per month depending on your lifestyle whereas in new york you would be lucky just to get a studio apartment for that much

I don't know- I live in a small town and here an apartment goes for about $450 a month (including utilites).
