Child care centers in Richmond, Virginia?

I am looking for a child care center in Richmond, Virginia that provides and after care program for children in school. My son is in pre-k. He will be 5 by June. I need a center that also provides transportation to and from school and one that may possibly be open on the weekends. I am also looking for a center that provides summer care daily and one that is open until at least 6 pm and provides transportation in the summer.

I know this may sound like a long shot, but when faced with the same dilemma...Martial Arts World in the west end and they have other places. Does full time summer, pick ups from school, 1/2 days when schools let out early, they do full days on school off days. The weekend thing, they are open but i dont think its a daycare kind of atmosphere. My son I thought would hate it, but he loves it, and they are cheaper than alot of daycare type places. And you learn discipline etc, I would try that route if interested, and I do think they start that young. You would have to call

The Virginia Dept of Social Services provides a search service where you can find child care centers by area, etc. It also provides info on inspections.

Good luck. I'm not sure of any that provide weekend service. You might want to look into a YMCA service or some churches have pre-k programs too.
