I am trying to learn where the Moritz Steel Company was located. It was thriving in the 1940's?

I do have a partial address. It is 6515,Juniata Ave. There is no indication of what city. The ariel photo I have shows another large factory in the background with several stacks, and a large body of water. All the cars in my photo appear to be late 1940's. Thanks for any info!!

I don't have definite proof for you, but I do think I have the answer, based on a couple of clues.

To begin with, I recognized 6615 Juniata Ave as an address in Cleveland, Ohio. And of course, a lot of steel foundries were located in Ohio, as were (and are) many factories that made products out of steel.

The second clue comes from a Google search to see what is at that location today. And, guess what? It is currently the home of Steel Service Plus, a metal cutting and fabricating business!

Steel Service Plus
6515 Juniata Avenue
Cleveland, OH 44103

Click below for a picture of the building occupied by Steel Service Plus. It is hard to judge size from this picture, unfortunately. At first, I thought it was just the small building that is in the center of the photo. But then I realized that there is an awfully large parking lot out front for a small business. And so, the big buildings all around the small one in the center might be part of the same business.

As I said, I do not have absolute proof that the Moritz Steel Company was at the same location, but it is enough to convince me. If you want to be completely certain, you could call the telephone number I provided above and ask if anyone at Steel Service Plus knows the history of the site. You could also call the Cleveland Public Library to see if they have any information.

But really, what would be the chances that there would be a _different_ steel-related business that just happened to have had the identical street address but was in a different city? I think Cleveland is your location.

I had fun doing the detective work here, and I hope it helps. Good luck!!
