Hello, i'm in need of a laptop or desktop. Will you please inform me of businesses that donate. Thank you.

I'm a parent of two college students, both children attend universities in Calif. One of my children recieved a lap top as a gift, the other did'nt. Finacially I can't afford to purchase such an item at this time. Please let me know of businesses that donate or contribute to a well needed cause. I'm a single parent who tries to accomadate my children with the necessities to achieve. Any assistance will highly be apprieciated. thank you, and God bless.

Though I'm not a parent, I can truly understand where you are coming from. I got a free laptop from a private business, basically "pleading" to please support my education. So here are some tips:

1.) The other child can apply for scholarships for Apple, Microsoft and Dell, which are a few to name (she can look on Fastweb.org for an extensive list of scholarships).
2.) Write an essay, show transcript (most places will only give it for free if you have good grades or have demonstrated good leadership in the community and so on)...Go around locally to every mall store, grocery, attorney's office, computer stores, etc give them the necessary documents and hope for the best.
3.) You can also apply for a Wal-Mart credit card and purchase an eMachines laptop for under 500 and pay it off little by little. Or to any other store (but Wal-Mart is the cheapest).
