Is Macy's becoming another Jcpenny?

A few days ago I went into 3 Macys stores near me and was dissapionted. I was looking to pruchase 7 ForMankind or Buffalo Jeans and they now carry cheap housebrand jeans. I looked at mens wallets and they no longer have Tumi or Bosca. Instead they have cheap $30 wallets made in china. While looking for a toaster oven Macys didn't have Kitchen Aid or Krups. Instead they had Euro Pro and Bella Cucina. Most of the kitchen products that Macys sells is now Martha Stewart which is cheap junk.The employees are unhappy and are unknowledgable. Macys should sell out to Jcpenny. In the future I'm going to shop at Nordstrom, Williams Sonoma and Crate & Barrel.

Macys is trying to target working class customers like Target and Jcpenny. Even Robinsons-May was better than Macys.

If Macys is going to sell low end products why even consider them a department store? Most of their high end china/crystal is gone. Macys no longer has Lladro, Mikasa or Swarosfski anymore.

I'm also an employee at a Macys in Macys west devision. I work in the housewares department. We are paid very low salaries and have to wear dress shirts and ties.

Not all Macy's are the same. Maybe you visited a small store which has only the room for the lower end stuff. Here in Central Florida we have seven Macy's and not a single one is like the other. The largest sells all the GREAT stuff but the others sell less to none of the high end products.Just do not have the customers for the high end merchandise on a day to day basis. Ask the employees who work there, just remember that there are such things as new hires who may not know all the answers to your questions. There is a knowledgeable person in the stores, either a seasoned employee or a manager. A seasoned employee will have a years of service pin on their name badge
I am a 13 year employee of Macys Florida division. Macy's Florida is the only straight commission division in the company. Yes that means we do not sell we take home NO MONEY and go into deficit owing the company money.

I am an employee of a Macy's south division, and the companies motto is We are America's choice for affordable fashion. Or some crap like that. Anyway, at the store I work at they also do sell Marthat Stewart home stuff, which is also sold at K-Mart. But Macy's will tell you what they sell is the high end Marthat Stewart. The Clinique and Estee Lauder counters are just vendors, along with fine jewelry, and Coach. All the rest of the stuff is cheap crap Macy's sells. But I doubt they will sell to JC Penney, because Macy's and Bloomingdales are the same company.
