There is some merit in what she says above. However, when you say "pay well," what do you mean -- relative to what?

Use a salary table for the position and title that you would seek, use the Internet or Google and compare A&P's salaries with those of other comparable stores -- see if they pay well compared to what the other stores pay. If A&P pays more, then you can say they pay well. If it doesn't, you can say they don't pay well.
