Anyone know of a trucking company?

Hey I'm a class A truck driver and I'm looking for some kind of trucking company that would make me drive around the western side of the states. I don't want to go to the east coast, I have a home in Denver, CO, so I want some kind of company that would have Denver in the middle of some of its routes.

Currently I work for a trucking company in Chicago, it used to send me to California a lot, but now it's mostly New York, Washington DC, eastern cities. Anyway, I'm thinking that another company in Chicago would be good because it is in the middle of the country and would have more routes going west. Can anyone give a list or something?

Depending on your experience and driving record, you could try to get on with Broadway Express out of Effingham. They pay well, you go ALL OVER....you will have eastern runs but they do a lot of cross-country and spend an equal amount of time out west.

It can be a fun job because they haul for a lot of performing artists, concert tours, etc....You do sometimes have to blanket-wrap and help move equipment, but all time spent unloading is paid, you generally do have help from whoever you're hauling for- and if you're hauling for a concert, you obviously get free admission backstage, free food, T-shirts, all sorts of perks. It requires a VERY safe driving record and any kind of specialty hauling experience helps. But it's worth a shot. Here's the website:

Also, go to a TA or something and pick up some of those trucking employment booklets. They're usually out front somewhere by the fuel desk entrance. Pick up a bunch of them, and read through them. Many company advertisements show their hiring and operating area.....and there are a good many companies that offer NO northeast, primarily western state runs.

It is a small company and it's not perfect, but depending on your driving style and preferences, it might be a match. Some drivers who come here absolutely LOVE it (I do) and other drivers absolutely hate every minute, it depends on your preference and priorities. The equipment is decent- a lot better than some 20-truck fleets can manage, it's refer freight mostly, the pay is average for the industry, and they have medical benefits. They will run the living SNOT out of you- we have solos that can do 4500+ miles a week. Average length of haul is about 1000 miles, and plenty of cross-country loads even for solos.
