What should I do about my job applications?

I sent in 3 applications last Friday, Dec. 21 and one on Saturday Dec. 22.

One was at Target (you have to apply in-store on thier computer)

Two were to two Cardinal Fitness Gyms (workout place)

And the one on Saturday was to KMart that I filled out from my home computer online.

When or how should I call in about these?

I gave some extra time due to Christmas, but should I call in tomorrow Dec. 30 (Sunday) or on Monday Dec 31 or some other date?

And should I call into Target since I filled it out there?

And what would I say to Kmart (filled online at my house) or to Cardinal Fitness (handwritten)?

Yes, it is acceptable to call all of the places you have listed to find out about your application. Call them starting in order from most wanted job to least wanted. When you call, make sure to ask to speak to a manager regarding your application. When speaking with the manager, simply state, "Hello, my name is _____, I submitted an application on (date submitted), and am calling to check back in on the status if available." or something similar. Play it by ear and talk natural and most importantly...act super friendly and excited at the prospect of working there. It is very important that if and when you talk to a manager that you act personable and professional. Best of luck to you!

Monday, you would ask to speak to a hiring manager or a manager and tell them you are calling about your job application

you should def call asap, that lets them know you are really interested. If they are open on sunday, then call sunday. If the hiring manager isnt there, call monday. Really if I were you, I would show up to these places on monday, just to show you interest. That gives you points against the others who just called about their app!

This season is usually pretty hectic for businesses. Not only that but it's also a very popular time for people to take time off from work.

I would give the businesses where you applied a chance to get over the holiday rush and allow their human resource people to get back from vacation and through the mass of paperwork sitting on their desks.

Call or email on January 2nd after 9:00 am. Be professional and be patient. But also - be persistent. If you're very serious about working for a business, learn all you can about that business BEFORE you call or write - it'll make you look a whole lot better than most of the other applicants. Not only that but it will help you when you start to work for them!

Also, when you're getting in contact with the business, ask to speak with and/or direct your email to the person in charge of hiring. This shows the person on the receiving end that you are confident and in charge of the conversation.

Hope this helps!

When you fill out job applications around holiday time it will normally take about two weeks.
Because they are busy preparing for the holiday sale specials. After New Years, the stores are putting up clearance signs to rid of their winter items.

When you fill out applications for these particular stores, always do it way before the holiday season kicks in.

The hiring personnel are way too busy during the holidays to start reviewing and interview new comers for positions..that's just how it is.

The next time you want to fill out an application to work for a department store, contact the department of personnel and ask them if they are acception application for immediate hiring.

They would then let you know if you could come in and fill out and application online and that they would call you after reviewing your appplication.

Or, they would say, we are not hiring at the moment, but you can still fill out an application online, and if an opening for a position that you applied for becomes available, we will call you.

Sometimes they have so many applicants applications online, they take their time weeding out those that do not have experience or a marketable work history.

So, give them a call and keep filling out the applications and follow up on each job inquiry. some one is bound to call you, so be ready for your interview.
