Employment questions..?

i've got 2 actually..

i just recently moved here in the US and i was wondering if:

1. as a degree holder and having been worked 5 yrs in my last job in a multinational company, would companies/potential employers that i will be applying consider that experience?

2. do they really call the people i've used as reference?

Most companies will consider any experience you've had.

As to the references, it's hit and miss. It depends on how critical your job is, how much you'll be making, and so on. McDonnalds isn't likely to call your references. A billion dollar company looking for a sales manager probably will. The international thing might come into play somewhat, but if it's a crucial enough position, they'll call.

1. Yes.

2. Only if you make the shortlist of candidates.

Yes, they'll consider your employment with a multinational company as experience.

They will call your references if they're within the United States or Canada. They generally won't call overseas for a reference. If all you have are overseas references you'll need to come up with some local personal references that they can call.
