My co-worker in Retail was let go but?

She was not told. She saw the next weeks schedule, and she had no hours to work. That was their way of kicking her out the door.
Is this normal with Retail stores? I thought it was dirty, and they could have at least talked to her instead of dumping her like that.

its end of season. perhaps they didnt let her go at all. they do that sometimes..either give you less hours or no hours.

Not only is it not normal, it's not right. She does have rights as an employee and regardless of what type of worker she was, she deserved to be told in the proper manner that she was being released from employment. Although I personally believe people cry foul way too often, in this case I would recommend she contact the local Labor Board. On the other hand, maybe she WAS told and was too embarrassed to tell her fellow co-workers.
