How do I explain gross misconduct on an application?

I was fired for gross misconduct. I am concerned about applying for other jobs with this "tag" on my job history. How can I apply for jobs with this hanging over me?

I would not support leaving it off, or trying to gloss over it because if it is found out after you gain employment then it may be grounds for termination as you did not divulge this information. I have terminated people who have either told untruths about a termination or skewed the reasons for it (without straight out lying).

I would advise saying that there was a misunderstanding about what ever it was and due to company policy you were terminated. As such you have learned from it and have grown professionally and hope this will not affect your chances for employment with this company. Good Luck.

You don't have to explain WHY you left. Just say that you parted ways, had a difference of opinion, or decided to seek other opportunities.

Your former employer can only tell them when you worked there and if you are elligible for rehire (if they bother to check references).

You could also leave that one off if it was a short job.

Take responsibility and explain that you have since learned your lesson and won't happen again.

leave it off...or should they ask say you wished to leave the field or anything else, I hope whatever you did was an error on your part.
