What does an event coordinator do?

what kind of training do they have?
Event coordinator's normal duties, so on and so forth.

An event coordinator sets up employee & customer meetings as well as corporate events. These duties could include things like:
booking meeting facilaties,
booking golf courses for customer tournaments,
booking hotel accomodations,
booking dinner reservations,
bringing audio/video equipment for meetings,
putting together slide-shows,
ordering promotional materials,
booking trade show booths,
ensuring transport of booths for trade-shows and setting up
etc.

You must be extremely reliable and able to work through problems to ensure events come off as planned. You are the brains behind the scenes and some times the only way you get noticed is when things screw-up.

A lot of times the skills are learned as you go. A lot of common sense and problem solving under pressure. A background in the hospitality industry might help but it depends on exactly what the duties you will be performing. Sometimes event coordinators are internally focused other times externally.

Regardless if you like the work there is usually travel, a lot of nice dinners, and you might even be able to participate in a few of the customer events like golf, sking, etc.
