Post interview Thank you letter...I forgot an interviewer's name...?

I had an interview today and sometime between exiting the interview and home I forgot one of the inteviewer's name. How should I address her in my Thank you letter? I recall her title and I remember the other interviewer's names...what are my options? Can I address the letter to the highest ranking interviewer and refer to the others as "team" without mentioning their names?

I think it is absolutely fine to address to the highest ranking interviewer, and then in the greeting refer to the others as"team". If there were more than 2 people interviewing you, it would be very time consuming to get all of their full names, then address separate letters or email...It would be very cumbersome....

In my experience, with all the post-interview thank you emails and letters I've wrote, half of the people never responded to the email or made mention of the thank you letter. Plus, there were times I didn't write one and still got the job...Don't sweat it!

Addressing by rank would be the safest manner, and referring to the rest as the 'team' sounds good. Junior members of the interview committee may have been chosen at the last minute. Like they say in naval terms, 'shine the brass' first; you can't go wrong.

Now, here's a curve. Address the thank you note to the head of the committee, but give them thank you notes addressed to the 'Other Honored Interviewers' on the committee, and ask the person in charge to give them to his/her subordinates.
That will show that you understand the chain of command, AND those who make the hiring decisions will be informed. You may/may not get the job by being so 'gallant', but it will serve you well through your career. Thank you notes are a lost part of business manners. It will attract attention when you can remember how to show a basic kindness...and it will help you down the road.

One of the things I did years back...I knew that I was going to be interviewed by a committee and knew who was going to be on the committee by name, and position. Before the interview started, I handed each of them a Thank You card. No, I didn't get the job...but I sure made them think twice about the decision that they made in their on minds before interviewing me! Har Har!
