What are some good part time jobs a college student can get?

I've worked four years in customer service as a cashier/stock person which I did quite well and had it not been for the management I would've continued to work there.

However, I've had a new job for about two months as a porter in a hospital (someone who washes dishes, loads/unloads silverware/dishes/trays, collects meal trays from patients, and sweeps/mops the kitchen floor). I just can't sweep/mop for the life of me, I just don't have the skills (keep rude comments to yourself) to do that. I'm better with dealing with money, computers, and stocking shelves, my janitorial skills just suck to be honest as much as I've been trained and worked on. Having been spoken to on it, I keep getting assigned to sweep/mop regardless and supervisors are getting snippier with me for sometimes is not my fault (people taking my assignments, making it harder for me, etc...). Therefore I just wrote about giving my 2 wks notice before I left work today, really upset.

What are some good jobs

a 20 year old full time student can get that aren't too difficult?

I'm good with computers, typing, stocking shelves but horrible with construction/manual labor, especially dealing in janitorial areas.

Would a bank teller be ideal for me? Besides being a cashier?

I was where you were, once upon a time during my college years. Some of the part time jobs that you can do; working retail, working in your alumni relations office tracking past gradutes of the college, working for a security firm.

Don't knock sweeping and mopping. To this day, and I have had several successful careers, I still sweep a mean floor, can make a great cup of coffee, and can handle and unjam most copiers...no matter how fancy they may be.

My young friend, you are building a track record of success with every job that you do. Yes, you did act in haste by quitting your job. Everyone does that once in their career path. Some folks are just jerks and you can't live with them or work with them. But, you will see jerks going up the ladder of success, and certainly coming back down.

In case you didn't know, you go to work to WORK and get PAID. IF you find a friend, by all means celebrate the friendship. BUT, folk are a curious lot. Some hate college students, some are jealous of them, and some are just plain ignorant, because they have chosen to remain stuck in their place and have not decided to move on to something better.

So, they take it out on you.

When I graduated college...I mean the day after I got the degree, I returned BACK to my part time job as a dishwasher, which I worked a few more weeks. Talk about a letdown. However, it was a skill that gave me some insight...and a lot of great inside information as to how a restaurant works. If you want to be a writer or author, you need to have that 'varied' background. If you want to go into a job where you meet the public, you have to understand who the public is.

Everyone starts out working 'the crap jobs'. But, you don't have to stay in them!

True story. I was working a crap job when an old college buddy happened by my store. Turns out that, while we were friends in college, he decided to go the restaurant path and worked his way up to reigional manager of the chain where I was working. Guess who got promoted into management training the next day?

God does work; just trust him and let him lead. Life is too short to worry about what others think about what you do. Folk may not like the smell of the garbage man; but they thank God for him when he picks up those cans every week!

If I were you, I would see if I could get a paid internship or a pt job at an accounting firm or for an accountant. With tax season approaching, they need all the help they can get...Plus, once you graduate and look for your 'real' job, accounting experience will go a long way! Bank teller is good, but not great money...Also, if your college has a career center, pay them a visit - they may have a list of paid internships or part time positions that may suit you well.

working as a bank teller is a good job if you can work the banking hours... target, walmart, k mart hire for the
graveyard shift for stocking shelves, you could work as a cashier at convenience stores, gas stations [self serve] cashier at check cashing agencies, drive cab[ good $ and tips] or for office work, computers, customer service try a temp agency[ they can adjust your schedule to blend with your school hours. any of these jobs will give you good work history and experience for your future. when i was in college i signed up with temp agencies, they worked well with my schedule, got a wide variety of assignments, good references and really helped me decide what type of business i wanted to work in after college. good luck to you...

bank teller,Banana Republic, picking up trash, the book store,Librarian...I picked up trash in the morning and and watered flowers and then disappeared for 7 hours and got like $400 a week...I thought something was wrong but everyone does it in college.
