When trying to get a job?

i have a hard time trying to find another job. my current employer doesn't give me enough shifts. the trouble is when i try to apply for other jobs, i have to tell them about my other employer and they decide not to hire me. i have applied to several places and interviewed for them but have not heard back from any of them. is it easier or better if you don't have a work to find other work? how would an employer find it if one of the applicants already had a job and was applying for another one?
i'm not a student but don't have a lot of experience wich also doesn't help much i suppose.

i have never lied on an application and would never dream of doing so.

You are considered to be more employable when you already have a job. I know it sounds weird, but it is true. If you don't have one, you will be perceived as desperate. Keep your job til you find the right new one.

Don't lie or mislead on an application or resume. It could spell doom now or later. You could be fired from a job for lying on an application. Keep looking and keep an open mind during the process. I was looking for a job for 2 years before I left one and went to another. It was a long process, I interviewed with 10 other companies before I found what I was looking for. Keep your head up and it will work out.

It's much better to be in a job if you're trying to find another - building up a history of work is crucial to a successful CV. Just keep trying and something will come along eventually.

the best thing to do is not to run down a current or past employer i could cost you the job you have as well as the one you are applying for. if you are not getting enough hours you might check into under employment. they also may be trying to get you to quit.

If you have job looking for another.. they think you are a job hopper! they are afraid that you'd change jobs shortly again. You gotta assure them that you won't and tell them why you want such a job and be truthful.. Also be polite even if the result isn't what you like.. politeness might just change the result!
