Moving to Los Angeles, any advice?

If I was to work at a few very low paying jobs like McDonalds, etc. simultaneously upon my 17th birthday until I'm 19 and save every penny I make, would I possibly make enough to get to Los Angeles and still have some to start off with?

its a thought, but thats about as far as youll get.....w/ your plan.........LA will eat you alive.........

i highly doubt it, the cost of living out there is outrageous bud

sure, go with it never give up on your dreams.

Are you kidding? Why would you want to move to LA? Aside from the high cost of living, the poor wages, the high income taxes ontop of your Federal income taxes, the high cost of rent, food, and utilities; not to mention what it takes to go anywhere within LA by car, bus, train or all three; what's the point?

If I were you, and I wanted to live in California, I'd pick a place there where jobs are plentiful, wages are good and the cost of living is low. That means somewhere outside of LA. That is, if you don't mind paying state and federal taxes, higher gas prices, etc.

But hey, that's your call.

You can find all of the LA style living you want in South Florida or New York City. Only difference is there's no income tax in Florida.

Having lived in Southern CA and commuting to work in Civic Center LA, I would not advise it, especially for a single young person.

The cost of living is very high (was even when I lived there some years ago) and public transportation is almost non existent. There are a few exceptions.

I also would not choose Florida, as having lived there also, I was not that impressed with that state either. Traffic is horrible (much like LA), only you have to add the Senior Citizen factor to that.

I would suggest you look for another larger city to move to maybe closer to where you live. Try that city, and in case you have to move back to your home town, it will be easier for you. Good luck in your choice.

you've taken the words right out of my mouth with your question... thats exactly what i want to do!! don't listen to anyone who says you cant do it... i live in the UK and plan to go to university in LA in the summer of 2010. but i dont no were to start looking - if you have any useful information please tel me as i will do for you.
