I want to have a career in GIS?Any advice please .?

i dont know whether u r in college or school or a professional.

well incase of school, you need physics, maths and computers.

You need to be a gradute. then you can take up an M.Tech, or PG Dip course at indian institute of remote sensing

there are certificate courses as well, but thats better for professionals i think .

you can also try for iit, if some courses are available.

Civil Engineering with a CIS minor would do it, if you are looking for an Education path. In fact, CIS (Computer Information Systems) with and supporting Science would take you right there (Geography may be overly specific, but if your passionate about it, you could go that route.)

The best way to know for sure what you should do is profile 5 companies that make this technology, and understand the role that would be most interesting to you within the company, and ask several people within the company for help. Tell them you are a student, doing career path research and ask them a good time you could ask them questions - tell them it should only take 5-10 minutes. Plan out your questions beforehand, and take it seriously.

Follow up with the people that you spoke with and thank them for time and advice.

This approach may even help you lay tracks for getting a job with them. If you happen to develop a degree of rapport, you can follow up with them every semester to let them know how you are doing, what projects might be relevant, and ask them for any perspective they might be able to share on the industry.
