Skills

Worked in heavily customer oriented environments and I'm adept in catering to their needs. Cashier experience that I believe will greatly aid my ability to perform the required duties of this job. I am proficient in operating computers as well as cash drawers.

Education

Attending Black Hills State University

This is for a teller position at a bank.

I like the fact that it is short since resumes generally shouldn't be more than a page unless you like to bore the hr person. Yours is so short that you could add a short description of yourself at the beginning. This description should say something about your attitude and work ethic. Here is one I used on my resume for an investment representative position:

Investment Representative

Self-motivated professional with successful experience in sales and customer service. Consistent interest in personal finance and investing. Strong work ethic and positive attitude with proven ability to exceed goals and overcome expectations.

Also, employers want to know that you were an exceptional employee at previous jobs. So, if you don't have any notable accomplishments to list, you could quote some nice thing some previous customer or boss said about you. Under each job you could have an accomplishments section and simply say "satisfied customers". Then elaborate with quotes from some of those customers such as:

"Matthew is one of the friendliest clerks I have ever purchased from. He is a keeper!"

"I was upset about a pricing discrepancy but Matthew quickly tended to my concerns while maintaining a smile and a positive attitude and I felt much better afterwards."

Good Luck!

not so dashing dude... check out websites for samples ... and work further to fix it better

Your resume looks good. It's surprising how many people don't know how to write a proper resume. (i.e. It's good that you know to keep things parallel and focused the resume toward the position you're applying to.)
However, there are three things that jump out at me:
1. There is a large chunk of time (June 2006-March 2007) where you were not employed. Expect during an interview to be asked about this.
2. The skills section is difficult to read. In fact, some of the sentences aren't sentences at all. Change to something like: Past work experience has allowed me ample opportunity to have face-to-face customer interaction. Because of this, I'm adept in resolving most customer questions and issues. My cashier experience will greatly aid my ability to perform the required duties of this job. I am also proficient in operating computers and cash drawers.
3. In what field was your university degree? If you didn't graduate, say how many semesters you attended, and what your major was. Also if your GPA was 3.0 or over, I'd include that too.

Put your Education at the top, followed by the skills section.

You grammar in the skills section has to be changed, and change it to bullets.

Change it to:

- Exemplary customer service track record
- Experience in cross-selling and up-selling products to clients
- Precise and detail oriented in previous cashier experience
- Proficient in operating computers
- Ability and desire to learn quickly

Add more info to the work experience:

Do this with Blockbuster and YMCA.
