Are you an older worker? (Over 40)? And work with younger co-workers? |
If so, how do you manage working around younger co-workers and do you feel discriminated against in any way? I think a lot of older workers have better work ethic, miss less work, & want to become more knowledgeable & helpful with their job. I know many older workers who are having to start over again at new jobs due to layoffs and it's hard to take a huge cut in salary and work with co-workers half their age making the same wage. Older workers should be given a little more respect I think! What do you think? I have worked with younger coworkers in the past. I have also worked with those my age, and those older. I put it into perspecitve. We, as older workers, had to learn a lot of what makes us such a hot property now. Each generation has a choice to learn from their elders, or not. I've also had to 'start over again' with various employers. Thanks to being in tune with Jesus Christ, He provides a better perspective than with other 'self' development products. I agree, it seems the work ethic has been lost somewhere in the last several years. Thank-You!!! Yes, I am 41 and most of the people I work with are in their 20's. They do give me respect (I've been in the resturaunt/bar industry for years) but there are a few that think they are the sh*% and make an *** of themselves daily. I THINK your right , younger workers dont really want to work, they just want the money.smart outlook I have been working with people half my age for several years now and my age has never been a problem with regards to working relationship. I always get along well with young people and have always been respected. Many Companies are hiring younger workers because they can pay them minimum wages. But what these companies |
