Is this burning a bridge?

I have been out on disability from work for 3 months, my part time job has asked me (just today) to start full time in January. I'm really worried about telling my full time job that I am leaving as if I had known sooner and told them, they could have replaced me by now. I certainly didn't intend to leave my full time position but this opportunity is really good and I don't want to not take it because I will be seen as the bad guy. How should I handle this?

I should add that I had intended to go back to the full time job in January. I am just about fully healed.

Just give the notice. You have been out on disability, I am sure someone is doing your job. Explain a full-time opp came your way and you weren't looking, they approached you and you cannot pass it up. Give as much notice as possible and move on

Choose the job you're most comfortable at. Good luck

Put in your two weeks, they can't blame you for finding a better opportunity. Your main concern is you, not them.

I would try to be a good joe about it, but you might lose both ways....
If I were in your spot I'd offer to come back (part-time) to train someone. You really can't lose a good opportunity and you do owe them a debt of gratitude for holding your job. Just my opinion.

If it burns, then it burns.
You opt to move on then do it but tell them ASAP! At least try to be fair and honest.
Waiting will put you in a worse light than you may already be.

no. as long as you give them proper notice. you've been gone 3 months and they have survived. i am sure if you give proper notice, they can't fault you. they might offer you a counter offer. good luck.

Oh boy!.... take a deep breath for a minute...... you havenet been on your full time job in 3 months.... guess what?.. they wont miss you!...you havent been there.

who give a crap about "being seen" as the bad guy?.. what do you think?... it is really about being who you are... if no notice is acceptabel to you, why not show your true colors... if it is not, the dont accept that from yourself.

sounds like you want to be a cowrd but not get caught... and are asking for social proof that you atre not.... like if everyone here agrees that you should bail on your full time job then it is OK..... it is baout you and your belifs,,, decide what they are and dont be afraid to be who you are regardless of what others think.

not my place but I thought I would share what I would do in this situation.... ( but you probably cant since you have probably been fibbing a while ( collecting diability while working) and part of your motivation here is not being caught for that)

People are real.. I would talk honestly with the full time guy and see if he cant live without you for 2 weeks even thought he has ofr 3 months.. chances are, it wont rock his world either way.

are you ready to return to either job? if so, and you take the new job, call your old boss now and tell them to start looking for someone that you have had an unreal offer that you and your family can not refuse, tell them that this just came up and you would of told them sooner if you yourself had known...good luck

Not knowing all the details, you may want to give your first
employer the opportunity to match the others offer,, providing
they are in similar working configurations,, If not explain this
opportunity came up,, and you feel its the best for you and your family,,
