I'm going to do it... But i need your help... PLEASE?

I've been working as a Customer Serv. Rep for 2yrs now, while finishing my Associate's in Business/Management.. (Now that I'm done with that.. my next step is to get my Bachlor's...)

But my dream is to work in a *Bank* -I want to learn all there is to learn, understand everything, I WANT to start at the bottom, work my way up, that way I will not miss anything...

I am a 22 yrs. old, very motivated, female, who lives in a small town with only 2 banks ... Wachovia & First Citizens, which I would be more then happy to work in either...

What should I do? I have formatted a resume, that of which I am extremely proud of. I have come to the conclusion that I need to actually speak with the "Branch Manager" (?) directly and explain to him that I am the one that he may be looking for, this is a dream..
Please, someone point me in the right direction, tell me what to say, and how to say it. What person do i speak with? What do i tell them to let them know i am their person? Thk U <3

The best thing to do is look for a bank that is hiring. Make sure you've gone over your resume, and even try reading it out loud to yourself. It sounds kind of like over-kill, but you want to do this to make sure you haven't made any mistakes. Mistakes on resumes, can turn a prospective employer off.
Next step is finding out who the manager is, and have a cover letter set up with any accomplishments you might have which could possibly relate to the job. Address the cover letter to that person. You can either drop off your resume with the manager, or even with a bank employee. Always follow up within 2 days with a call stating your interest in the job, and a request for someone to call you at their earliest convenience.
Once you get the interview, dress sharp, arrive on time, and turn off your cell phone.

Good Luck!!!

If you feel strongly about this I'm sure the Branch Manager will notice this and offer you a job on the spot. To better improve your chances you can always take a course in accounting, it will just give you an edge against your competition.

Go in and apply. You sound like an intelligent person, why are you asking us.

And dont delute yourself, banking is a lot of politics! Please dont go into it with rose colored glasses, you will only end up getting yourself walked on or pigeon holed.

PS. Confident and desperate are very close... it you appear to overeager people WILL take advantage of you!! Trust me, I speak from experience!

Well try not to be so over eager that you scare a person off. Simply send a cover letter to the bank and apply for a job as a teller. You would move on from the teller position to other positions as they become available and as you move on the bank sends you to banking trainings and seminars.

You have to pass all kinds of background checks to work at a bank, so before you get too excited with the manager, just call and ask how to apply for a teller position and once you are offered and interview (which you should be if you have a clean background), tell them it's your dream to work in a bank. Don't get weird or over excited, just be calm and enthusiastic.

good luck, i worked at a bank before for like 7 years it's a good career i just got burnt out with it. i know now you have to have good credit before they will even hire you, they say that if you cant handle your own credit you cant handle anyone Else's

First, don't limit yourself and don't want to speak with the highest person. Based on your scenario, GET A JOB in the bank first before trying to progress upward. I have two four year degrees and it took me 4 years out of school to found my entrance into the place I got my start. Don't be afraid to do some things you didn't study or train in. An example of this was at my previous job as CFO. The labor force was union and went on strike. Management had to perform other duties to keep the clinic open. I let go of my CFO skills and performed billing, patient credits, and.......I even cleaned all 16 bathrooms to code, emptied trash from all treatment/office rooms, and buffed and polished all floors once a week..................Please don't sell yourself short when trying to get your foot in the door.........Good luck and God Bless

I don't really see any problem here. Your drive to learn the banking industry said it all when you mentioned that you would start from the bottom to get a better understanding on how Banking works.

It shows alot enthusiasm. Good Luck to you.
