help!!! i need to prepare a simple yet presentable resume...i have a wide variety of skills & knowledge but no actual documented work history.... i am 33yrs old and have only had 3 real jobs 1 of which i had for 1 month 11yrs ago, yet it was a really good job / business, then the 2nd job i had for over 1yr & i am techcnically on a self-requested no schedule status for the last 8 months, in which time i began temp with possibility for permanent posistion at 3rd (better) job which i had for 4months. each of the 3 jobs are different types of businesses, can anyone help me write a simple & presentable resume & somehow incorperate my various skills etc. even though i have no real work history?

Instead of a work history replace it with a skills section about how you are good with people, organized, positive attitude and below is a list of more ideas:
A stay-at-home mom if paid for her work and overtime would receive $134,000 per year. You would have to pay the following employees to do the following jobs:
Driver, nurse, teacher, counselor, cook, dietician, gardener, manager

Answered a phone
(Operated Telecommunication System)
Made a photocopy
(Operated a variety of office equipment)
Did something on a computer
(Worked with various software systems)
Mailed a letter
(Sent direct mail in compliance with postal regulations)
Said 鈥楬ello鈥?br> (Performed customer service duties)
Collected money
(Recorded accounts receivable transactions)
Counted something
(Inventoried products for managerial reports)
Sold something
(Marketed sales strategies to customers)
Babysat
(Provided In-Home Health Care)
Put on a band aid
(Performed emergency medical procedures)
Passed the potatoes
(Served customers in a culinary environment)
Plugged something in
(Worked with power supply units of hardware devices)
Swung a hammer
(Built residential improvements utilizing approved construction techniques)
Hauled some trash
(Organized Sanitation Engineer requirements)
Ate lunch with a co-worker
(Executed team decision regarding nutritional requirements for daily dietary needs)
Took a short cut
(Executed transportation route efficiencies)
Mowed a lawn
(Performed landscaping design)
Installed a car stereo
(Designed audio electrical system)
Cleaned something
(Performed Custodial Duties)
Fell down the stairs
(Demonstrated OSHA safety tests)

You're 33 with no real work history? I'm amazed. Seems like even though you had those second two jobs for a minimal period it is still work experience.

Write a quality objective, highlight skills, then list your experience noting achievements at each position. Review it when you're done and look for spelling and grammatical errors as well as typos. Do NOT rely solely on MS Word to do spellcheck. If it looks odd, get a dictionary and look.

Have someone else review it as well. If all looks well, then start applying. If you're finding it is not landing you interviews, revise again and re-submit.

Good luck!

You do need to write a skills based resume. One that highlights your skills rather than your job history. Try looking at this one for ideas:
