Anyone work in HR? Human Resources question?

If someone was already offered a job at a Hospital, and passed the drug test, and fills the application out later (after the interview of course), and clicks YES, they have ever been convicted, adjudicated of any crime or misdemeanor, or felony. The charge is a misdemeanor theft from 9 years ago, would you hire the person, or inform them unfortunately they cannot have anything on there background? Any sticky situations like this happen before? Florida is a no fault also.

Probably okay since it was a misdemeanor.

This person would not be my first choice. Hospitals have drugs, expensive equipment, patients personal records and information etc. If something came up missing then guess who will get the blame. Hope that you are the best qualified to apply and handle this question well in the interview. Discuss how that was along time ago, you have changed and matured.

It would honestly depend on the type of position. Some positions convictions are deal breakers, where others are not.
