Which South American countries, if any, can still be considered economic 'frontiers'?

You should consider the advantages and disadvantages of each investment opportunity in detail, not by attempting to apply a 'label' to the market.....

Some countries eg Brazil may have good growth and low(ish) inflation but a Government running a deficit and passing laws (recent public sector pension reform) that will result in massive future inflation (or massive Tax increases) to fund it ...

You should also consider the political 'flavour' .. Brazil once imposed a 'Commiunist' inspired Tax on all Bank transfers ... and Peru confiscated land (and redistributed it amongst the peasants, many of whom abandoned it and went to the cities), and some South American countries have even defaulted on Government borrowing (bonds).
