What would have to be done to stop wal mart? |
If one wanted to stop the expansion of wal mart and slow it to a crawl what would have to be done? Is there any hope maybe if you got a huge group of people together and protested? What about just plain assassinating the CEO? Is that the only way? Probably couldn't be stopped unless, A. the corporation was forced to split (but that didn't really slow down Microsoft all that much... it did a little, though), B. a mass boycott was organized or C. the U.S. economy completely crashed, since it is a U.S. company. C probably wouldn't be worth it, A and B would only happen if they did something incredibly despicable and illegal - personally I think they're already despicable - but it would have to be huge and cause a wide range of people to stop supporting it. That, or we suddenly underwent some kind of mass change in culture and everybody saw it for what it is, a exploitative and socially, politically and environmentally irresponsible corporation, and rejected capitalist values. That doesn't seem too likely in the short term, though. Your suggestion indicates a lack of maturity. If you do not like the operation of a certain business, then the simple solution, is "DON'T SHOP THERE!" I too, do not like the marketing practices of WALMART, but in today's politically correct world, suggestions like yours, can get you to be viewed as a subversive, plotting to create havoc by your solution. WALMART is here because "we the people" want things we purchase to cost less. So, WALMART sells things that cost less. Things that cost less, are usually of poorer quality, of limited availability, and of short life. In words you may understand,..."WALMART... sells crap!" Now, just because I believe what I said, I don't believe or suggest a solution such as yours, as to how to solve the WALMART problem. Use your brain! Or you'll end up on someone's list of idiots that need to be watched. Remimber, "big brother is watching..." Will he like what he sees in you? Let people know that that cheap shirt that they buy at Walmart that falls apart after it gets washed is in reality very expensive. It came at the cost of the US textile manufacturing industry. Personally, I try not to buy things that were likely made with underpaid or slave labor - so I don't shop at Walmart, the biggest abuser. Never have, never will. why the heck would you want to stop wal mart??? It's awesome! Also it's imposable to stop something like that! Oooooh! Be scared! They can't be stopped, apparently. I live in a city with about 400,000 people and we have, let me count 'em, 5 freakin' ones!! |
